One of the most enchanted seasons of the year in Kyoto is spring, when cascades of pink and white blooms illuminate the streets. There are many places to see cherry blossoms in the city, particularly in the Higashiyama neighborhood where the Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto is situated.

In addition to the most well-known locations for hanami (the Japanese tradition of appreciating the fleeting beauty of flowers), there are a few secret spots that the locals prefer. A number of these attractions are illuminated at night, adding a magical quality to the experience.

6 excellent sakura spots, all within 15 minutes of the hotel, are personally recommended by Four Seasons. On your way out, stop by the Concierge desk for a cherry blossom map, which is updated daily to reflect the "bloom status" of each location.

1. Chishakuin Temple

On the day of arrival, a quick trip to see the sakura in the Chishakuin Garden is ideal. The lush grounds, which are rumored to have been a favorite of renowned tea master Sen no Rikyu, embody a delicate synthesis of architecture and landscape.
